Steve Lau

Managing Director, WorldQuant Ventures LLC

Steven began his career as an Option Specialist and Market Maker at Spear Leeds and Kellogg which was acquired by Goldman Sachs in 1999.

He later built proprietary trading desks at UBS, Montgomery Securities, Commerzbank and most recently at the Bank of Montreal.

Throughout his career, he has been an avid user, evaluator, advisor and investor in Financial Technology companies. Personal early stage investments include Dataminr, Pico Quantitative Trading, Estimize and Benzinga. He has direct investments in over 40 startups across sectors.

Mr. Lau holds a degree in Mathematical Economics from Colgate University.

Igor Tulchinsky

Founder, WorldQuant Ventures LLC

Mr. Tulchinsky is a financial entrepreneur with 23 years of Wall Street trading experience. He is the Founder and CEO of WorldQuant, LLC, which he established in 2007 following 12 years as a statistical arbitrage portfolio manager at Millennium Management LLC.

Prior to forming WorldQuant, Mr. Tulchinsky was a venture capitalist, scientist at AT&T Bell Laboratories, video game programmer and an author. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas and an M.B.A. in Finance and Entrepreneurship from The Wharton School.

Jeffrey Blomberg

Manager, WorldQuant Ventures LLC

Mr. Blomberg is WorldQuant’s Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel with responsibility for its global Legal, Human Resources, Facilities and Data Procurement functions.  Prior to joining WorldQuant, Mr. Blomberg was a partner in the law firm of Withers Bergman LLP from 2008-2014 where he served as WorldQuant’s outside general counsel.

Prior to joining Withers, Mr. Blomberg had been a partner at Pullman & Comley, LLC since 2005.  Mr. Blomberg began his career in 1996 working in New York at Battle Fowler LLP (now Paul Hastings) and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.  He then moved his practice in 1999 to Connecticut to the firm of Finn Dixon & Herling LLP where he practiced for five years before joining Martin, Lucas & Chioffi LLP as a partner in 2004. 

Mr. Blomberg graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Colgate University in 1993 and received his JD from Fordham University School of Law in 1996 where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review. 

Mark Danchak

Managing Director, WorldQuant Ventures LLC

Since joining his first startup in 1994, Mark’s journey has taken him from tech startups to Wall Street and ultimately Venture Capital. He has helped build mobile, software and financial services companies.

He is passionate about entrepreneurship, connecting the dots across technologies and business models, the value of diverse teams, and working with great founders who have the vision and grit to shape the future.

He previously was at Carbon6 Ventures, Barclays Capital, Harbinger Capital Partners. Libertas, 24/7 Real Media and All Points Software.

Sophia Dardashti

Associate, WorldQuant Ventures LLC

Ms. Dardashti also holds a role on the Data Strategy Team for WorldQuant LLC. And has previously worked in Project Management and Business Development at WQ.

Prior to joining WorldQuant, Sophia was part of the Sales and Analytics team at Bloomberg. Previously, Sophia worked on the Buying and Planning team at Ralph Lauren.

She is passionate about data, food, consumer goods and is fluent in 5 languages.

Ms. Dardashti is a graduate of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Clara Wu

Ms. Wu is a US-trained PRC bilingual professional with extensive experience in different financial services sector and global technology industry across North America and Asia.

Prior to joining WorldQuant, Clara has worked closely with a wide range of institutional clients and assets classes in the US and abroad – in Investment Banking and Asset Management with CITIC Securities in Hong Kong, Merrill Lynch in New York, Citibank and China Construction Bank in Shanghai; worked on private placements and other mandates for venture/growth companies with strategic tech investing boutiques AGC Partners in Boston, cross-border business development in Silicon Valley and was also in digital media at China media flagship program CCTV News.

Clara was born and raised in China, educated in the US, received the highest distinction in Economics and International Studies during her undergraduate studies and now is a graduate of Johnson Graduate School of Management and Institute for Public Affairs at Cornell University.
