Steve Lau

Managing Director, WorldQuant Ventures LLC

Steven began his career as an Option Specialist and Market Maker at Spear Leeds and Kellogg which was acquired by Goldman Sachs in 1999. He later built proprietary trading desks at UBS, Montgomery Securities, Commerzbank and at the Bank of Montreal.

Throughout his career, he has been an avid user, evaluator, advisor and investor in Financial Technology companies. Personal early stage investments include Dataminr, Pico, Credijusto and Benzinga. He has direct investments in over 60 startups across sectors. Head of WorldQuant Ventures, a global early stage investment firm founded by Igor Tulchinsky.

Focus areas include Data/ AI/ML, Fintech, Healthcare IT, ESG, Quantum Computing and Space. Since 2014, we’ve funded over 90 startups, including Ample, IonQ, PsiQ, Genies, Extend, Immuta, Verge Genomics and Skyroot.

Mr. Lau holds a degree in Mathematical Economics from Colgate University.

Igor Tulchinsky

Founder, WorldQuant Ventures LLC

Mr. Tulchinsky is a financial entrepreneur with 23 years of Wall Street trading experience. He is the Founder and CEO of WorldQuant, LLC, which he established in 2007 following 12 years as a statistical arbitrage portfolio manager at Millennium Management LLC.

Prior to forming WorldQuant, Mr. Tulchinsky was a venture capitalist, scientist at AT&T Bell Laboratories, video game programmer and an author. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas and an M.B.A. in Finance and Entrepreneurship from The Wharton School.

Jeffrey Blomberg

Manager, WorldQuant Ventures LLC

Mr. Blomberg is WorldQuant’s Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel with responsibility for its global Legal, Human Resources, Facilities and Data Procurement functions.  Prior to joining WorldQuant, Mr. Blomberg was a partner in the law firm of Withers Bergman LLP from 2008-2014 where he served as WorldQuant’s outside general counsel.

Prior to joining Withers, Mr. Blomberg had been a partner at Pullman & Comley, LLC since 2005.  Mr. Blomberg began his career in 1996 working in New York at Battle Fowler LLP (now Paul Hastings) and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.  He then moved his practice in 1999 to Connecticut to the firm of Finn Dixon & Herling LLP where he practiced for five years before joining Martin, Lucas & Chioffi LLP as a partner in 2004. 

Mr. Blomberg graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Colgate University in 1993 and received his JD from Fordham University School of Law in 1996 where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review.
